Navy Pier on Tuesday announced plans to reopen their indoor public spaces and select businesses starting Thursday, and set a goal of a full reopening by Memorial Day.

That means the Fifth Third Bank Family Pavilion, as well as some shops and restaurants, join outdoor spaces and other areas already opened at the end of April.

The pier had begun a phased reopening April 30, with the pier’s parking garages, Polk Bros. Park, Peoples Energy Welcome Pavilion, North and South Docks, Pier Park (including some rides and attractions), East End Plaza, tour boats and cruises, the Sable hotel, and some restaurants at limited capacity all open.

“As our community continues to make progress in recovery from the pandemic, we are thrilled to continue welcoming guests back to the lakefront safely,” Marilynn Gardner, Navy Pier’s president and CEO, said in a news release. “As tourism also begins to resume, we encourage local and regional travelers to consider a visit and overnight stay to take advantage of our vast open spaces, dining, retail, attractions, arts and culture and new hotel.”

For events taking place on the Polk Bros Park Performance Lawns, social distancing circles are set to be outlined in the grass. Face masks will be required on-site.

Starting May 28, Navy Pier begins their extended summer hours which run through Labor Day: Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight. Navy Pier parking garage rates are set to move to hourly rates from a current flat fee of $29.
